Warm-Up (10 min)
- Running forward to one wall and backwards back to the starting point 3x
- High knees; butt kickers 1x
- Side shuffles 2x
- Karaoke 2x
- Lunges with side twist 2x
- Ankle and wrist twists 2x
- Sprints 3x
Notes
- Warmup without rackets
- Increases heart rate and blood flow
2 min break
Scissor Jump (15 min)
- Coach to demonstrate scissor jump and throw a shuttle forward
- Students begin drill by throwing the shuttle forward with scissor jump and move forward after landing to pick up the shuttle.
- Repeat the drill until coach call to stop
- Coach should correct student if their technique is incorrect
- When coach happy with the technique, two chasse steps are added
- Concentrate on wait on the racquet leg, kick through, landing on the non-racquet foot and move forward
Notes
- Coach should also remind student to arm reach up high to throw the shuttle forward. Not side way
Scissor Jump Practice (15 min)
- Students stand side way on the line with the weight on the racquet foot
- On the signal, students make a scissor jump and move forward after landing
- Execute first without chasse backward, and then with two chasse backward before doing scissor jump
- Concentrate on weight on the racquet leg, kick through, landing on the non-racquet foot, and movement forward
2 min break
Forehand Clear (20 min)
- Divide students into group of 3 with one feeder, one hitter and one pickup birdies
- Hitter standing on back court
- Feeder feed from the side of the hitter’s racquet arm, toss the shuttle high for hitter execute a clear stroke
- Another student stay on the opposite court to pickup shuttles and make it into row
- Row of 10 then rotate, repeat for 5 sets
Notes
- Coaches pay attention to how the hitter execute clear stroke
- Make sure student holding racquet with forehand grip
- Racquet swing upward, not sideway
- Coaches can help feeding if student unable to feed correctly
- Begin drill with stationery, progress by adding scissor jump later
2 min break
Games – King of court (20 min)
- Half court games
- King’s court is a full court game
- After every 4 minutes, the person with more points moves up towards the King’s court while the other person moves down
- Loser of each round does 10 push-ups
Cool Down Stretch (5min)
- Calves
- Quads
- Glutes
- Hamstrings
- Groin
