Focus:

  • Continue to help kids to understand and improve their badminton stroke.
  • Last 4 class of 2022 season, we will review drills from beginning of the season.
  • Introduce easy foot work drills.

Warm Up (10 mins)

Run 2 laps back and forth from one wall to the other wall.

  • Side Shuffles and Jump 1x
  • Lunges 1x
  • High Knees 1x
  • Butt Kickers 1x
  • Lunges with balance shuttle on head and lunge 1x

Notes:

  • Warm up without rackets
  • Increases heart rate and blood flow

Water Break (5 mins)

Forehand Net Shot – Revision ( 15 mins)

  • Group of two or three with a coach to feed for forehand net shot
  • Ready position with forehand grip than step forward with dominant foot and non-racket foot follow and reach with the racket arm. Non racket arm also need to extend at the back to balance the body. Keep the racket face perpendicular to the net.
  • having the palm facing up when striking the shuttle.
  • Use a gentle wrist action to tap the shuttle over the net. 
  • Move back to the center of the court and ready for next shot.
  • 10 shuttles per set. Repeat for 2 – 3 sets

The final class of the season is upon us, and next week we’ll have our Year-End Tournament. Coaches may opt for singles or doubles matches, or perhaps introduce some entertaining badminton games.

Cool Down Stretch and Review (5 mins)

  • Calves
  • Quads
  • Glutes
  • Hamstrings
  • Groin

Notes:

  • Review what technique learned today
  • Talk about what went well today and what didn’t
  • Ask for the student’s feedback on the drills and the games
  • Socialize with them.
