Warm Up (10 mins)
- Running forward to one wall and backwards back to the starting point
- High knees
- Butt Kickers
- Side Shuffles

Notes
- Warm up without racket
- Increases heart rate and blood flow
- Change the number of warmup exercise based on athleticism of students. Don’t make them pass out. Push them just enough they feel they worked hard for it
Break (5 mins)
Introducing Racket Speed (20 mins)
- Group of 3 – 4
- Coaches to feed from the side to the should height of the hitter
- A student will be the hitter, standing on the midcourt to perform drive shot
- Other students pick up shuttles on the opposite side of the court
- 8 Shuttles then switch
- Start with backhand drive for 2 rounds then progress to forehand drive for 2 rounds
Notes
- Coaches to do a demonstration first
- The contact point should be in front of the body
- Hitter to push the shuttles straight and strong to the opposite court
- After hit, keep the elbow and racket up
- No big swing with arm power
- Feeder to feed from forehand side for backhand drive and feed from backhand side for forehand drive.
- Feeder must not stand in front of the hitter to throw the shuttle
Flat Games (15 mins)
- Work in pair to play rally with forehand and backhand drive only
- Students play on a half court of each of them standing on the side line. Play without net.
- Start the rally with reduce speed and concentrate on correct execution and gradually increase the speed
Notes
- Coaches to do a demonstration first
- Coaches to emphasize the ready position, racket in front of their body and tightening of the grip to generate the hitting power
Midcourt Game with Body Hits (15 mins)
- Work in pairs
- Partners stand across the court parallel to the net on the sidelines or 5-6 meters apart
- Partners engage in rallies using drive shots only
- Starting with a backhand serve and practicing both forehand and backhand drives
- The goal is to hit the other person’s body below head height for a point
- Partners should keep score, the person with less points at the end has a punishment determined by the coaches
Notes
- Start rallies with low speed and focus on technique
- Make sure that students are not getting farther apart from one another
- Coaches should be going around the gym ensuring that students are using the correct technique
Cleanup and Break (5 mins)
Games – King’s Court (15 mins)
- Half-court singles games
- 3 mins games each round. At the end of 3 minutes, the students with more points moves up toward the King’s court while the other students moves down
Notes
- Put the weaker players near the King’s court, and put the stronger players near the bottom
Cool Down Stretch (5 min)
- Calves
- Quads
- Glutes
- Hamstrings
- Groin

- Review what technique learned today
- Talk about what went well today and what didn’t
- Ask for the student’s feedback on the drills and the games
- Socialize with them
