Warm Up (5 mins)
- Jog 5 laps around the gym
- Notes:
- To warm up for first exercise
- Increase hear rate
Balloon Tap (15 mins)
- Groups of 2 – 1 balloon per pair
- One partner passes the balloon to the other partners (each gets one touch)
- Use racquet hand to control the balloon
- Line up at the base line, touch the other end of the gym and back without letting the balloon drop – If it drops restart from the base line
- First 2 pairs to get back to the base line gets a break, rest of the pairs have to do 5 pushups and continue with the exercise – continue to eliminate pairs until times up
- Notes:
- Preparing them to control the shuttle with racquet
Balloon Tap Relay Game (20 mins)
- Groups of 3 ~ 4 – 1 balloon per group
- One person from each group goes at a time – keep the balloon afloat using their racquet hand
- Line up at the base line, touch the other end of the gym and back without letting the balloon drop – If it drops, restart from the base line
- When a person reaches the end, touch the next person’s hand and the next person goes
- Once everyone goes at least once, the whole group sits down – depending on the amount of people in the group, some people will go twice
- First 2 groups to get back to the base line gets a beak, rest of the pairs have to do 5 pushups and continue with the exercise – continue to eliminate pairs until times up
- Notes:
- Preparing them to control the shuttle with racquet
Break (5 mins)
- Get racquet after the break
Backhand Thump Grip with Balloon (10 mins)
- Each person gets a balloon
- Get students to spread out across the courts – enough space to move around
- Use backhand grip (thumb grip) to keep the balloon afloat – control the balloon for it to stay within the court. Do not let the balloon touch the group
- 2 sets of 3 minutes – 1 minute break in between
- Notes:
- Learn how to control the balloon with a racquet and correct grip
- Make sure students have their thumb placed on the wider side of the racquet grip
Forehand Basic Grip with Balloon (10 mins)
- Each person gets a balloon
- Get students to spread out across the courts – enough space to move around
- Use forehand grip (V grip) to keep the balloon afloat – control the balloon for it to stay within the court. Do not let the balloon touch the ground
- 2 sets of 3 minutes – 1 min break in between
- Notes:
- Learn how to control the balloon with a racquet and correct grip
- Ensure students told their racquet with a handshake grip/v grip
Grip Change with Balloon (22 minutes)
- Each person gets a balloon
- Get students to spread out across the courts – enough space to move around
- Use both forehand and backhand grips – switch between each grip every 4 touches
- Every 3 minutes reduce the number of touches
- 4 sets of 5 minutes – 30s break in between each set
- Notes:
- Get used to the grip changes
- Learn how o control the shuttle with racquet
Stretching/Cool Down (remaining time)
- Sit down, feet together and reach forward
- Legs as apart as possible, reach for each foot then center
- One arm across body and other arm pulls it closer to body
- Notes:
- Stretch muscles
